Protect Oregon's Progress

The Dalles, Oregon

I SPY A CLEAN ENERGY FUTURE

This was the theme of our recent entry in The Dalles Cherry Festival Parade, and thanks to the drum corp, it was definitely one of the more popular entries! It was a joint effort by POP's Climate Committee and Columbia Gorge Climate Action Network. Our entry included all electric or human-powered vehicles and it was so much fun, we're planning to do it again for Hood River's Fourth of July Parade. Stay tuned! A special thanks to Peter Cornelison for taking the lead and to Bruce Schwartz for this great video! Click here for more Cherry Fest photos!

Protect Oregon's Progress, known locally as POP, is an Indivisible group in The Dalles, Oregon. Like many Indivisible groups, we started up in early 2017, shortly after Trump was elected, and have been working since then to promote a progressive agenda, help elect progressive candidates, and hold our elected officials accountable.

We meet the 4th Tuesday of every month, at 6:30 pm, via Zoom, but that's about to change. Our April meeting will most likely be an in-person event, so stay tuned for details.

Community Activism

Climate Change Action - In November of 2021, after presentations from our POP Climate Action Committee, the City of The Dalles and Wasco County agreed to form a joint task force to develop a community climate action plan. Read about it here.

Electing Local Candidates

Since 2017, POP has played an active role in helping recruit and elect local candidates. We realize the importance of having progressive voices in our local elected positions, and we've had some pretty good success in recent elections. We plan to get better at it every election cycle!

Through May 2022, Indivisible National will match all donations up to a total of $500. These funds can be used for gatherings, for materials we use for events like the Cherry Festival Parade, signs, postcards and postage, and more.
